There was no riding today. It was really just a day of relaxing and hanging out with family.

After breakfast, homemade muesli, mum and I went up to Hurstwood to walk around the reservoir. It’s amazing how much these trees have grown. As a kid, it was easy to see the sky and lots of light came filtering through. Now, while not oppressive, it certainly feels like you are walking through a magical forest.

After a bit of a false start, we walked all the way up an around the reservoir. Overall we did either 2.5 or 3.5 miles depending on whose tracker you believed. In my book it was an impressive distance for an 82 year old with double hip replacements.

I always used to love coming through these trees on the west side of the reservoir. It is always peaceful.

When we got back my cousins son, first-cousin once removed, Matthew came up to visit. He has an awesome Triumph Thruxton in a really great red color with shorty pipes that sound fantastic. Like the good dad he is, he was off to pick up a back pack for his daughter.

Lunch was a family affair at the Bay Horse Pub in Worsthorne – https://thebayhorseworsthorne.co.uk. The food and service were great. I got to meet my newest grand-niece Mable. Here she is with dad, mum, and grandma.

As I said, the food was great. This was the big daddy – beef, lamb, and chicken along with a massive Yorkshire pudding.

At the end of dinner, we got the table next to us to take a photo of us all. I know Mabel was sleepy but I think Connor was hiding at the back.
Mum and I hung out in the evening and just chatted again.
