Today was a scavenger hunt where you could ride alone or in a group. At dinner last night, our table basically decided that we would all ride together. Our philosophy was that we wanted to visit as many sites as possible but we wanted to see them to and not just be riding for the sake of collecting points. The full list of locations can be seen here.
The rules were that every location had to be posted to Instagram and tagged with @ducatiusa and #giroalpino2024. They had to include some of the team members in the picture. We could not leave the lodge before the 9am briefing. We had to be back at the lodge by 5pm. You can see the full set of images under my Instagram profile @cobucsfan.
I split the maps up across a few images so they could be easily viewed. This is the first part starting at the Skamania Lodge.
- Skamania Lodge
- Columbia Ace Hardware
- Skamania County Court House
- Eastwind Drive In
- Bonneville Dam
- Multnomah Falls
The second part of the hung starts at the Multnomah falls.
- Multnomah Falls
- Vista House
- Motocorsa
- Voodoo Donut
- Willamette Falls
After we posted our picture from Willamette Falls, we decide that lunch was in order and across the street was The Highland Stillhouse. It came with great reviews. They were not wrong. I had a fantastic gristed cod sandwich. Given we were riding beer and whiskey were out of the question. The bathroom in the place was a sight to see. Imagine a Scottish guest house bathroom, quadruple the size and fill it with bric-a-brac.
We picked up the scavenger hunt after lunch with the Oregon City Elevator which was right around the corner.
- Oregon City Elevator
- North American Bigfoot Center
- Silent Rock
- Pioneer Woman’s Grave
- Mt Hood Winery
- Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum
The final leg of the scavenger hunt was a quick run back along the gorge to Stevenson. I thought we were going directly to the hotel because we had to check in by 5pm for our hunt to be counted. When we got to Stevenson, instead of turning left to the lodge, we turned right for our last stop.
- Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum
- Columbia Gorge Museum
- Skamania Lodge
We ended up walking up to the check-in desk at 4:59 pm with amazement at how close we had cut it.
That night there was a dinner where prizes were awarded for the teams that collected the most points. We did not win. It looks like we were one location short of the third place team. For a team that took their time, enjoyed lunch, and actually stopped to take in the views, we did pretty well.
